Most body treatments do one thing: remove fat, tighten skin or tone muscle. EMSCULPT NEO was designed to do two of those at once, reducing fat while building muscle in the same area during the same session. That combination is why it has become one of the most requested treatments at our Hudson office.

It is also a treatment where expectations matter a great deal. Here I’ll explain the technology, who tends to see the best results, what a typical plan looks like, what it costs, and who should skip it.

How EMSCULPT NEO works

The applicator combines two energies:

The heat also warms the muscle, which is thought to prepare it for the contractions. Published MRI-based studies of abdominal treatment have reported reductions in fat thickness alongside increases in muscle thickness, though individual responses vary.

What a session feels like

You lie on a treatment bed while a flat applicator is strapped to the area. The warmth builds gradually, similar to a hot stone. The contractions feel like a strong, rhythmic workout squeeze, and the intensity is increased as you tolerate it. Each session lasts about 30 minutes, and you can drive yourself home and return to your day. Mild muscle soreness, similar to a hard workout, is common for a day or two.

Who is a good candidate

EMSCULPT NEO is best for people who are already near a healthy weight and have a modest, pinchable layer of fat over the area they want to improve. It suits people who exercise but have plateaued, and postpartum patients (after full recovery and physician clearance) who want to rebuild core tone. It is not a weight-loss treatment. If weight is the main goal, our medical weight loss program is a better first step, and body contouring can follow.

Who should not have EMSCULPT NEO

Because it uses electromagnetic and RF energy, some people should not be treated, including those who:

The treatment plan and pricing

Most people start with a series of four sessions spaced about 5 to 10 days apart. Results build over the following weeks and are typically assessed around three months after the final session. Periodic maintenance sessions help hold muscle gains, just as regular exercise does.

At our Hudson location, EMSCULPT NEO is $400 per session or 4 sessions for $1,500. You’ll find more details on our EMSCULPT NEO page and our pricing page.

Keeping results depends on maintaining your weight, staying active and eating enough protein to support muscle.
