Botox for Men: Why Dosing Differs and How to Keep Results Looking Natural

Men need a different Botox approach: stronger muscles, flatter brows, different goals. Dr. Arora explains dosing, natural results and what men should ask first.

Men are one of the fastest-growing groups of neuromodulator patients, and the reasons they give me are practical. They want to look less tired in meetings. They are tired of being asked if they are angry when they are just concentrating. They want to look like themselves, only more rested.

What most men do not want is to look “done.” That outcome is avoidable, but it requires a plan designed for male anatomy. Here is what I mean.

Why men’s faces are treated differently

Stronger muscles

On average, men have greater facial muscle mass, especially in the frown complex between the brows. That usually means more units are needed for a comparable effect. Clinical trials have also shown that men, on average, respond less robustly to the same dose used for women, which is one reason a “standard” dose can disappoint.

A different brow shape

The typical male brow sits lower and flatter, following the bony ridge above the eye. The typical female brow sits a bit higher with more arch. Injection patterns that lift and arch the tail of the brow can look feminizing on a man. I place product to keep the brow horizontal and strong.

Different lines of concern

Men most often ask about deep frown lines, heavy horizontal forehead lines, and crow’s feet from years of squinting outdoors. Thicker male skin can also mean lines are more etched at rest.

What natural results look like

A typical first plan

  1. Assessment. We look at your muscles in motion, your brow position, and lines at rest.
  2. Conservative start. On a first visit we treat the areas that matter most to you, usually the frown lines, and hold back where overtreatment would look obvious.
  3. Two-week review. We check your response and adjust if needed. This visit tells us your personal dose.
  4. Maintenance. Many men treat every three to four months; stronger muscles may wear through a little sooner.

Because men often need more units, expect the dose, and cost, to be somewhat higher. Botox is $11 per unit in Hudson and $10 per unit in Barboursville. Treatment is performed by trained medical professionals under my oversight.

Who should hold off

Neuromodulators are not appropriate if you have a neuromuscular disease such as myasthenia gravis, an infection at the treatment site, or a known allergy to botulinum toxin products. Tell us about all medications, including blood thinners and recent antibiotics. If you have very heavy upper eyelids or a low brow, forehead treatment needs extra care, because relaxing the forehead can let the brow sit lower. Sometimes treating only the frown lines is the better choice.

Other treatments men often combine

Neuromodulators relax movement but do not rebuild skin. For texture, sun damage, and deeper creases, men often pair Botox with Morpheus8 or laser resurfacing. For thinning hair, PRP hair restoration is a common question. And for overall health, our men’s health program in Hudson covers hormone, weight and wellness care.

Frequently asked questions

Do men need more Botox than women?

Often yes. Men typically have larger, stronger facial muscles, so more units are usually needed for a similar effect.

Will Botox make my eyebrows arched?

Not if it is placed with male anatomy in mind. We aim to keep your brow in a natural, horizontal position.

How long does Botox last in men?

Usually about three to four months. Stronger muscles and lower doses can shorten that somewhat.

Is there downtime?

Very little. Most men return to work immediately. Skip heavy workouts for the rest of the day.
